Analyst: September Is Going To Be A Big Month For Apple; to Unveil ‘iPhone 5′ And ‘iPad Mini’
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in a report published earlier today, as relayed by MacRumors, claims that Apple would be releasing the 6th generation iPhone in the early-September timeframe.
He expects the supply to be constrained right after the launch due to the pent up demand and the use of the new in-cell display panels.
The iPad Mini's debut, he says, would follow the iPhone's launch, with an expected late September timeframe.
That aren't the only products Apple's set to introduce or upgrade this September, if Kuo is to be believed. In his report, he notes that Apple will mildly tweak the current generation iPad to account for the heating issues:
Though shipments of iPad mini’s components will start in August, the new iPad line will end production, ready for transition to a modified New iPad line. As such, component shipments will drop in August as iPad mini’s components shipments growth will be offset. On a side note, the modified New iPad shares the same exterior as the original model, but contains modifications to correct its thermal dissipation problem and lower-cost components.
Taking into account the rumors and speculation surrounding Apple's products, September seems to be a huge month for Apple, with its entire iOS line of products being refreshed. The iPhone and iPod touch would be receiving their annual upgrades, a new form factor would be added to the iPad line, and the current iPad would be getting updated internals.
Considering the importance of the iPhone and the iPad, it's highly unlikely that Apple would announce any of these without an accompanying press event. If Kuo's information is to be believed, Apple would have to organize two press events within a span of a month, which sounds very unlikely.
MacRumors notes that Kuo has a good track record when it comes to Apple related rumors, having correctly predicted the Retina MacBook Pro, the 17" MacBook Pro phase out and various other product related decisions made by Apple.
